"We are hurt by these reports that we deliberately did not see an ailing
child in Detroit," said the Backstreet Boys in the statement. "We are
committed to our fans, and whenever possible make every effort to meet
as
many as possible. Due to our current tour schedule and the amount of
requests
we receive, we're unfortunately unable to meet everyone. We offer our
regrets
to the Zalewski family and send our best wishes to Morgan."
The statement went on to remind fans that the group was recently honored
by
the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America as the 1999 Celebrity Wish Grantors
of
the Year. A spokesperson for that organization offered the following
statement on behalf of the band's generosity.
"We are thankful for the generosity that the Backstreet Boys have shown
and
continue to show our wish kids," said Paula Van Ness, president and
CEO of
the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. "As one of today's most popular
music
groups, the Backstreet Boys are extremely busy, but they make a special
effort whenever they can to fulfill the wishes of children with
life-threatening illnesses."
In other Backstreet news, the Boys will
sing the National Anthem prior to the
Detroit Pistons' home opener Friday (Nov. 5) at the Palace of Auburn
Hills.
The Pistons will face the defending Eastern Conference Champion New
York
Knicks. The group, who are huge basketball fans, are in town preparing
for
the group's three sold-out shows at the Palace from Nov. 6 through
8.
In still more Backstreet news, last week
singer Kevin Richardson dislocated
his shoulder while snowboarding in Denver. The singer performed at
Pepsi
Center in Denver on Oct. 31 with his arm in a sling, and is currently
recovering from the minor accident. The group recently went into a
studio in
California and recorded some background vocals for a new Elton John
song that
will be featured in an upcoming animated film from DreamWorks. The
Backstreet
Boys are more than halfway through their U.S. tour in support of their
multiplatinum album Millennium.

ON 9-9-99 the boys didn't win big like we
thought they would or like they
SHOULD have won but however they did take home the VIEWERS CHOICE award.
I
would like to thank the people who voted for our boys now b/c we made
them
WIN!
AT THE VMA's Brian was with Leighanne (personally
I have nothing against
her and I don't know any g/fs so i won't trash them) They looked very
happy
together. Aj was with Amanda and everyone thinks they are back together.
AJ
said they are still very good friends so she was probably just there
for
support. Howie brought his sister, whom I think is cool, and he loves
very
much. Nick's dad was there to support him while Kevin brought his g/f
Kat
(Kathy). She is a dancer for Cher so I heard!
The boys kicked off their tour in North Carolina.
Part of the performance
was aired on MTV NEWS 1515. HOWEVER, something you might not have seen
was
something that happened to Kevin during that performance. During the
pefect
fan, they brought up some girls and their mothers to the stage but
while
getting down on his knees to sing to the girl his pants spilt.

" If your a major BSB fan, then you know that wild-man AJ McLean has
one very
special lady in his life- his mom, Denise! She's more than just a supportive
parent; she's totally involved in the life and times of the Backstreet
Boys.
Denise is in charge of the brand new BSB Fan Club, and she recently
called up
16 Magazine to tell us about it.
16: What made you decide to start the new fan club?
Denise: I wanted to provide the best service for fans. I thought, if
the fans
are what make entertainers so successful, then someone needs to put
together
a better fan club. I wanted ours to be the best it possibly could be.
We're
calling it the Backstreet Boys Fun Club. Another reason I wanted to
start the
club was, I wanted to put a bit of a lid on the rumor mill. I hear
so many
rumors about the boys, and I try to squelch them as soon as I can.
16: What kind of things do fans get when they join the club?
Denise: We're getting a fan pack together. Fans will get a folder with
a
membership card, a poster, a key chain, and a nice welcome letter signed
by
me. That will be the starter kit. They'll also receive a quarterly
newsletter- about six pages to start, but eventually it will be magazine
quality, with a glossy finish. We're putting it together now- it'll
have lots
of little contests and tidbits the fans will like. There will also
be a fan
club web page as well.
16: How much does it cost to join the Fun Club?
Denise: Right now it costs $24.95, and that gives you a full year's
membership with all of the stuff included.
16: How much mail do the boys get?
Denise: Coming to our personal PO Box, there were hundreds per week.
We got
letters left at the house. There's mail going to my parents' house,
where I
lived before AJ and I bought a new house. We also get box loads from
the
management company every couple of weeks. All in all, about 8,000 per
week.
16: How can our readers get information about the club?
Denise: They can write to:
The Backstreet Boys Fun Club,
PO Box 695004,
Orlando, FL 32869-5004.
And our hotline number is (407) 903-0323
ACCORDING TO BACKSTREET.NET Nick has sung on the PERFECT FAN, but in a recent article the BOYS said that he did'nt cos he was ill that day!
LTL will be premiering on Monday (September 13, '99) Fatima is in the video and she shares a scene with Howie. According to Amazon.com, the single "Larger Than Life" will be available in the USA as an import on October 12'th, 1999. Like IWITW, the single will likely be released domestically in other countries.
The single for "Larger Than Life" will be
out everywhere on September
28th (Tuesday). and the video will be out in the US on September

Also MTV has started playing their Sears commercial. If you want to
know what
it's about then I will explain. They're doing a video shoot. Then a
bunch of
fans start to chase them. Of course the guys start to run away from
them.
They run onto one of those double decker buses and the girls chase
after
them, but then they were on another one that drove away. And they were
waving
at the fans on the other bus. Then they run into a Sears where their
fans are
chasing them in there too. They talk about how you can win a shopping
spree
with your favorite Backstreet Boys and to go to Sears to enter. While
they
say that, they show the guys by themselves with one fan and they're
holding
all these bags and the fans are like holding one! It was cute! And
damn do
they all look so hot!
